MathZ Sessions
The 60 minute sessions with our MathZ tutors are usually once a week during term time. Each student is taught on an individual programme so enjoys personalised attention and support.
This means that any gaps in knowledge or misunderstandings can be identified and remedied. Our students’ increased self-esteem and confidence leads to an improved attitude toward learning at school.
We don’t use computers to tutor but we are happy to help with students’ online homework.
For parents with limited incomes, we are approved tutors for the Mathematics for a Lifetime Charitable Trust who help subsidise tutoring for students. https://www.mfal.org.nz
Year 6, 7 and 8 Students
After an initial free assessment, we design an individual learning pathway for each student. Each session consists of Times Tables, Problem Solving, Revision, Word Questions, New Skills Learning and finishes with a Maths Game. Our programme follows the NZ Maths Curriculum and supports what is being taught in the classroom. Each session is $55 for students from Year 6, 7 or 8, with up to two students working with an experienced tutor. Students may also choose one on one tutoring at $65 a session.
Year 9 and 10 Students
Our High School sessions are based on each student’s current school topic. We teach directly to a student’s needs, particularly when preparing for an upcoming assessment. Each session is $55 for Year 9 and 10 students, with up to two students working with an experienced MathZ tutor. Students may also choose one on one tutoring at $65 a session.
NCEA Students
For Year 11, 12 and 13 students, we provide intensive one on one tutoring at a cost of $65 per hour long session. Our experienced tutors help students understand how to successful gain the maximum NCEA credits as well as how to effectively use their Graphics Calculators. We have resources and practice assessment papers for all NCEA Internal and External Standards.
